Caleb Chris Leslie Lambert pleads guilty to string of driving charges while facing Coffs Harbour court

A Coffs Coast man ordered to stay off the road was easy pickings for police when he repeatedly hopped back behind the wheel of his Commodore, a court has heard.

A Coffs Harbour man who was put off the road until the middle of next year has landed before the courts for continuing to drive regardless.

Caleb Chris Leslie Lambert was an easy mark for police when they spotted his Commodore station wagon out and about.

The 26-year-old was stopped on Christmas Bells Rd for random testing on September 21 and police found his licence had expired.

Six days later, Lambert was convicted of driving with a cancelled licence – first offence.

His licence was disqualified for nine months, until June 27, 2024.

But shortly before midnight on October 15, officers spotted the Commodore on Cornish St.

Lambert turned left into Thompsons Rd without indicating and police followed.

They found the vehicle parked on Redhill Rd and Lambert exclaimed “I know, no indicator” and “it’s expired”, referring to his licence, police state in court documents.

Lambert was again stopped by police on Park Ave about 6.30am on October 30.

He was charged with driving a motor vehicle during disqualification period – second offence and has pleaded guilty.

Lambert also pleaded guilty to licence expired less than two years – prior offence, not using a change of direction signal and another count of driving a motor vehicle during a disqualification period – second offence.

In Coffs Harbour Local Court on Wednesday, Magistrate Julia Virgo adjourned the case to December 20 for sentence.
