A male pedestrian, 26, is in hospital after a crash on Coramba Road, Coffs Harbour

As families wound down from Easter Sunday an accident west of Coffs Harbour has resulted in a young man being hospitalised with serious injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle.

A man, 26, remains in Coffs Harbour Hospital in a serious condition after being struck by a vehicle west of Coffs Harbour in a tragic end to Easter Sunday.

At approximately 3.05pm on Sunday police received reports of a pedestrian hit by a vehicle on Coramba Road.

Emergency services attended and the man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head, chest, and pelvis injuries before being taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital in a serious condition.

The female driver was uninjured and has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.

Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District established a crime scene, setting up a perimeter cordoning off Coramba Road from the roundabout at the top of Shepherd’s Lane all the way to William Sharp Drive.

A white motor vehicle without rear plates remains stationary on William Sharp Drive just west of the investigation perimeter.

Traffic diversions were in place on Coramba Road and motorists were urged to avoid the area as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash are investigated.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone with information or who may have dashcam vision to contact Coffs Harbour Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
