SENIOR cabinet minister Christopher Pyne has blamed hackers for liking an explicit gay porn tweet from his official social media account at 2am this morning, prompting calls for an investigation into the “worrying” breach.
Australian Conservatives senator Cory Bernardi is calling for Attorney General George Brandis to investigate the breach, and said he was concerned that national security was at risk if the Defence Industries Minister’s phone had been hacked.
Senator Bernardi, no fan of Mr Pyne, said he sympathized with him.
“I’m deeply concerned about national security implications of (the) hacking of Pyne’s social media account,” Senator Bernardi said.
“Who looks at gay porn at 2am, on the day that the gay marriage thing gets up,” he had earlier told Sky News.
Labor leader Bill Shorten appeared to back the investigation and said “we can never be too careful about cyber security, especially where defence is involved”.
“I do think this deserves serious investigation,” he told reporters in Adelaide.
I was hacked overnight! I was ð´ at 2am. Someone tried to hack my social media yesterday. Maybe they are making mischief over the plebiscite?

Labor is still considering if it will support Senator Bernardi’s move in the Senate.
Mr Pyne’s twitter account liked the explicit video from an account XxxPornGay as celebrations continued last night after a resounding victory for the marriage equality campaign.
He later tweeted: “I was (asleep) at 2am. Someone tried to hack my social media yesterday. Maybe they are making mischief over the plebiscite?”
Mr Pyne was a vocal supporter of gay marriage legalisation.
Already suspended, Australian Border Force commissioner Roman Quaedvlieg’s twitter account appeared to like an erotic clip which showed a woman touching a man’s genitals in a video captioned “I think your c..k likes me”.
In September, an aide to Texas Republican senator Ted Cruz was blamed for his social media account liking a similar pornographic tweet.
