A Byron Bay pair have been charged with a swath of cross-border drug supply charges.

Suellen Carr, 57, and David Ostling, 62, were mentioned before Byron Bay Local Court on Monday regarding an alleged extensive supply of heroin.

Ms Carr faces 30 supply a prohibited drug charges.

Mr Ostling faces 16 supply a prohibited drug charges and one count of dealing with the proceeds of crime.

According to court documents, Ms Carr’s charges relate to the supply of small increments of heroin between February 2 and March 23 across the Byron Shire, Coolangatta and Varsity Lakes.

Ms Carr allegedly dealt up to 2g of heroin across the border.

Mr Ostling allegedly dealt up to 1g between March 5 and 23.

In total, police will allege Ms Carr and Mr Ostling dealt an estimated $4060 worth of the drug, according to court documents.

On Monday, the court heard the charges would not be dealt with by Director of Public Prosecutions despite the number of charges.

The police prosecutor said telephone intercepts were still being examined in the matter.

The court heard the allegations would be the subject of a November 24 and 25 Byron Bay Local Court hearing.

No pleas had been entered on Ms Carr or Mr Ostling’s account.

The pair were adjourned until July 25 to confirm the hearing date.
