Embattled former Byron Shire mayor Michael Lyon - who is facing allegations he assaulted his wife - has spent the night in a watch-house after allegedly breaching an AVO.
On August 1, the Byron Shire councillor and then-mayor was charged after allegedly assaulting his wife, Susan Lyon, at their home before fleeing the scene.
The allegations led to public backlash against Lyon, who plummeted in the polls at the September 14 NSW Local Government elections and lost his mayoral seat.
However, Lyon still managed to retain a Byron Shire Council seat.
Lyon now faces fresh charges laid on Monday after he allegedly breached conditions of a strict apprehended violence order (AVO).
On Sunday, Tweed/Byron Police District officers were called to a home at The Pocket, a Byron Shire suburb, after reports of a domestic incident about 2.20pm.
Police were told when they arrived that Lyon had allegedly breached an AVO. No injuries were reported, a NSW Police spokesman said.

Police arrested the 51-year-old at the scene and he was taken to Byron Bay Police Station.
Lyon was charged with breaching an apprehended domestic violence order, intimidation (DV) and breaching bail. No pleas have been entered.
Lyon was refused bail and spent the night in a police watch-house.
On Monday, Lyon faced Lismore Local Court and was granted strict conditional bail.
He is due to face the court again later this month.
When contacted by this publication about the court appearance, Lyon said: “The allegation against me is that I raised my voice and leered at my wife, which I categorically deny.”
In late August, Lyon lost an application in court to suppress the media, including News Corp from reporting on the criminal proceedings against him.
