Missing Monique’s fate still torments her family

IT HAS been two years since Hervey Bay’s Monique Clubb travelled to Brisbane and never returned home.

IT HAS been two years since Hervey Bay's Monique Clubb travelled to Brisbane and never returned home.

Her sister-in-law Nikki Duncan says the pain of Monique's disappearance doesn't get easier - "it seems to get harder," she said.

On June 22, 2013, Monique called her mum, Sheena McBryde, and told her she would be home as soon as she got some money for transport.

She was last seen near Beenleigh train station that same day.

During the past two years, her family has heard many different stories about what may have happened to Monique.

Nikki said they added to the family's unanswered questions.

"We do hear a lot of things. People tell us things, bits of information," she said.

"It's hard not knowing whether it's the truth or not.

"Some of the rumours are just disgusting."

Nikki believes there are people out there who know exactly what happened to Monique, who was 24 at the time of her disappearance.

She said she and other members of Monique's family hoped that someone would eventually come forward and provide the information they were desperate to hear - where they could find their beloved friend and sister.

"We are trying to do everything that we can. There's nothing more that we can do," Nikki said.

Monique had always planned to take her little sister Minnie out for a big celebration the day she turned 18.

"She had been waiting for that day for years - but she was not there to celebrate," Nikki said.

Nikki's partner Mickey, one of Monique's four brothers, put posters up all the way from Hervey Bay to Brisbane in an effort to find his sister.

Nikki said Monique had been in trouble with the law but was a good-hearted, kind and caring person who was turning her life around.

The family even offered a $5000 reward for information.

So far no one has come forward.
