A North Coast man charged with supplying a large commercial amount of cocaine remains in custody.

Kyle Armour, 24, from Pottsville, made no appearance when his case was mentioned before Byron Bay Local Court on Monday.

Mr Armour was arrested last week after police allegedly found $2 million worth of cocaine in the vehicle he was driving near Bangalow.

Police will allege Mr Armour was observed speeding on the Pacific Motorway in that area shortly before 3pm on Tuesday, June 1.

They will allege they found more than $2 million worth of cocaine - or 6.7kg - hidden in various parts of the Nissan X-Trail, of which they said Mr Armour was the only occupant.

Defence solicitor Ashkan Tai told the court his client, who he spoke to on Sunday, was not required to appear by video link.

Magistrate Karen Stafford adjourned the case for a mention to confirm the state of the brief of evidence on August 2.

Mr Tai made no application for bail on behalf of the accused, and it was formally refused by Ms Stafford.

Mr Armour has lodged no formal pleas to his charges of supplying a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug, dealing with the proceeds of crime - which relates to cash allegedly found in the car - and exceeding the speed limit by more than 10km/h.
