Plants are the future of meat – or at least according to one burger joint, which is eyeing off a Northern Rivers location.

Cult Sydney burger chain Soul Burger has hinted it’s planning to open a franchise in or around Byron Bay.

“Soul Burgers are game changers,” the business listing explains.

“They are a brand new franchise that seeks to do things differently.

“They’re looking for franchisees who truly care about the same environmental, sustainable and company values.”

The listing offers one-on-one training for two weeks before the opening of a new store, and a five year lease.

Soul Burger currently was founded by Dr Amit Tewari initially as a flexitarian restaurant in 2015.

Menu staples include their chilli “duck”, Sydney sider, and “BBQ beef brisket” options.

Eventually growing to three locations in Sydney, the restaurant now prides itself with a wholly plant-based menu and “leading a global movement in keeping animals out of slaughterhouses and off our menus”.

The company boasts that it “reduced our plastic use by 98%, recycle(s) our cooking oil and partner(ed) with Powershop, a 100% carbon neutral power company” as part of its ecological mission.

The company has also listed franchise offerings in Surfers Paradise, Perth and Adelaide over the past fortnight.
