The journey will mark the first time the mobile veterinary facility will be going on tour – and the team hopes it’ll help to build vital connections and awareness in the community.

The Byron Wildlife Hospital will be visiting major centres on the Northern Rivers and southeast Queensland next week.
The hospital’s director of communications and partnerships Russell Mills said the facility would be going to Brisbane on Monday, Currumbin on Tuesday, before going to Lismore, Grafton and Coffs Harbour across the remainder of the week.
“It’s the first time we’ve actually taken the truck out on the road,” Mr Mill said.
The hospital launched in November with an event in Byron Bay and has been operating from land gifted to the organisation in Ewingsdale.
While there have fortunately been no major fires or floods since the hospital launched, Mr Mills said a major benefit of the facility is that it could move to locations where and when wildlife vet car is most urgently needed.
Mr Mills said the idea of going on the road was to connect with people in regional communities, including wildlife care groups, general practice veterinarians and members of the community.
He said the tour would help wildlife care groups who are to better understand how the hospital works and to also share wildlife-specific knowledge with regional vets.
“Our main message is the level of collaboration required to treat and save wildlife,” Mr Mills said.
“We want people to be aware of the service and also aware of the need for the service.”
