A witness ran from across the street to help and asked Crawford why he struck the man.

“I’ll f--king get you both,” Crawford replied.

Police happened to drive past and were flagged down by the injured man and the witness.

Crawford was questioned by police and provided fake details before he tried to escape arrest.

Magistrate Karen Stafford said Crawford had an “extensive history in Tasmania” and it “wasn’t the first time”.

“I have similar intimidations and assaults from you in 2020,” she said.

Crawford’s defence lawyer Tracey Randall said he had a “difficult background”.

Crawford claimed he had no recollection after a certain point on the night of the offending.

The court heard he was “remorseful for how he acted that night” and thought he would “potentially be taken to the hospital” after his release from custody.

Crawford was fined $1000.
