Billy Smith dead, Blake Olsen critically injured in Central West ute crash
A popular Central West man and keen pig hunter has been killed in a Good Friday ute rollover while his mate remains in hospital with critical head injuries.

Tributes have flowed for a loveable larrikin affectionately referred to by friends as ‘Wild Bill’, after the Central West man was killed in a ute rollover on Good Friday.
Billy Smith, 21, and his mate Blake Olsen, 18, were travelling on Baradine Rd about 5km east of Coonamble when their Toyota HiLux left the road about 11pm.
Police said the vehicle rolled several times through a paddock before coming to a stop.
Mr Smith died at the scene of his injuries while Mr Olsen remains in a critical condition in John Hunter Hospital with serious head injuries.
“Billy Bob you were the most loudest, outspoken brother, uncle and son to all of us,” Mr Smith’s older sister Sophie Smith wrote.
“Your loud mouth would either piss someone off or make them laugh. We are going to miss you so much.”
Friend Brenda Kelly said she was “shattered” by the news.
“So many are going to miss you bro, you don’t even realise what an impact you had on people,” she wrote of Mr Smith.
“You were a joy to be around always.”
Shakaye Walker posted: “Such a bubbly man, (I) will forever cherish our lil mems (sic) and will miss that bright smile you always had.”
Tasha Nixon described Mr Smith as “one of a kind” while Brianna Fernando said “he will be sadly missed by everyone”.
The NSW Police Tamworth Crash Investigation Unit is investigating the cause of the crash and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
It has not yet been revealed which of the men was driving at the time of the crash. No other vehicles were involved.
