Belinda Van Krevel arrested for stealing handbag

A NSW woman involved in one of the state’s most evil murders was arrested this morning for stealing a handbag from a 72-year-old woman.

Belinda Van Krevel, 36, dubbed Belinda “Van Evil’’ was sentenced to six years jail in 2001 after convincing her lover Keith Schreiber to kill her father Jack Van Krevel with a tomahawk.

A NSW woman involved in one of the state’s most evil murders was arrested this morning for stealing a handbag from a 72-year-old woman.

Belinda Van Krevel, 36, dubbed Belinda “van Evil’’ was sentenced to six years jail back in 2001 after convincing her lover Keith Schreiber to kill her father Jack Van Krevel with a tomahawk claiming he sexually abused her.

Belinda Van Krevel and her brother Mark Valera (previously Mark van Krevel). Mark was convicted over the gruesome murders of David O'Hearn and Frank Arkell at Wollongong.

Her brother Mark Valera, a friend of Schreiber, is serving life in jail for the brutal murders of two men, David O’Hearn and Wollongong Mayor Frank Arkell in 1998. Both killings were described as extremely brutal with a tie pin being stuck in Arkell’s eye while O’Hearn was decapitated and his body mutilated.

After her release in 2007, Belinda van Krevel was arrested three years later for assault and theft and then in 2013 she stabbed her lover a number of times and was sentenced to two years in jail and has only recently been released.

Police allege at about 12.30pm last Thursday she went up and grabbed the handbag from a woman who was sitting eating a hamburger at a cafe in Windnag, near Wollongong. She was then alleged to have fled to a waiting vehicle which raced off from the scene.

Early today police arrested Lake Illawarra and charged her with stealing.

She appeared in Wollongong Local Court where she was granted bail to reappear on March 28.
