Why aren't parents rugging up their children when it's cold?

But what about their children? Why don’t they have as many layers on when it’s such a cold day?

PICTURE this.

You're walking down the street and its ten degrees outside in the middle of winter.

While that may be warmer weather for some, it is a cold day on the Fraser Coast and you're rugged up with a warm coffee in hand.

You look up and notice other parents with their winter woollies on.

But what about their children? Why don't they have as many layers on when it's such a cold day?

During the cooler months on the Fraser Coast it's not an uncommon occurrence to see children dressed in less.

I know it's not always parental negligence, everyone knows children can be stubborn.

When I mentioned what I have seen to a colleague and a mum, she told me her youngest refuses to wear warm clothes in winter.

Unfortunately, I don't think all of the cases I have seen have been similar to that.

 Another one I've noticed is adults and school aged children walking in the shops without shoes on.

I guess it comes down to how you're raised and while there aren't rules against it, I believe when you're in a place like a public shopping centre or movie theatre it comes down to having respect for your appearance.

Shoes don't have to be expensive.

I personally would feel grubby without shoes on while walking in a public place like a shopping centre.
