WATER COOLER: Neighbourhood dogs driving me barking mad

IF the noise doesn't stop soon it looks like I will have to resort to wearing earphones to bed.

The day gives visitors the opportunity to meet all the pets and to ask the experts questions about which breeds might suit their lifestyle best.

Growing up on a farm in the sticks, I suppose I was pretty spoilt with the peace and quiet or the soft sound of cattle during the night, thanks mum and dad!

I know when you live in town you can't control what is around you, but come on, I would feel terrible if I had a dog that was keeping my neighbours up.

I hate to use a pun, but I am barking mad at a pooch that wakes me up throughout the night, not every night, but once it starts it doesn't bloody stop.

I have tried everything from a pillow shoved over my head (not the most comfortable way to sleep), to getting up and doing my yoga poses and even moving all the way to the other end of the house.

But I can still hear it barking.

I did think about going to see the owners, but it is hard to tell exactly which house it is coming from. 

While I have a calm persona majority of the time, the owners need to do something about it and show a little respect. 

I mean if I didn't have to get up at 5am maybe I wouldn't be so frustrated, but even still, I believe it is up to the owner of an animal to address a problem like this when a dog is continuously barking for at least an hour to two at a time.

The worst thing is as soon as this pooch gets going it gets the whole dog neighbourhood going.

I would be interested to know what other dog owners think about barking hounds in their neighbourhood.
