Australian pharmacy retailer TerryWhite Chemmart has confirmed it will start offering doses of the Astra Zeneca Covid vaccine from Monday, August 16.

The company has three pharmacies on the Northern Rivers, all located in the Ballina Shire, but only the River St outlet in Ballina’s CBD will offer vaccinations from Monday, according to the company.

TerryWhite Chemmart chief pharmacist Brenton Hart said with only 19 per cent of Australians fully vaccinated, the priority now was to get as many people vaccinated as possible to help reduce the spread of Covid-19.

“Our TerryWhite Chemmart pharmacies are now offering the AstraZeneca vaccine for anyone over the age of 18 deemed appropriate with informed consent,” he said.

“Our pharmacies will also be providing Moderna and potentially Pfizer by mid next month.

“We expect pharmacists will drive uptake and improve vaccination rates as one of the most accessible health professionals in the community.

“Our pharmacists have been trained to administer the COVID-19 vaccine in anticipation of this day and are eager to start vaccinating Australians with what is our best defence against the virus.

“At TerryWhite Chemmart we have also invested significantly in resources, systems and training to support our network of more than 400 pharmacies to deliver a safe, professional and efficient vaccination experience for all Australians.”

Bookings can be made via the TerryWhite Chemmart website or in-store. Walk-ins are also welcome.
