A northern NSW woman has avoided prison after police found her carrying 11 bags of the drug ice stashed down her top, up her skirt, in her bra and in a wallet.

Tegan Jane Stobart was also dealt with in Ballina Local Court for knowingly getting into a stolen car with Dylan Steven Willson.

In February, Willson pleaded guilty to stealing a car, driving during a disqualification period, police pursuit, dangerous driving, speeding and possessing drugs.

He snatched a Mitsubishi Triton while the driver checked a crab pot and ended up in a wild police pursuit was at the centre of a wild police pursuit around Ballina, the court was told.

Stobart told police she was thought she would die.

Stobart faced the court on March 23 pleading guilty to being carried in a car without the consent of the owner and supplying a prohibited drug on February 2 at Pimlico.

She told police that Willson drove at ridiculous speeds in an attempt to have the pursuit terminated, which included crossing over to the wrong side of the road, according to court documents.

“Stobart felt as if her life was going to end due to the erratic driving of co-accused.”

When police found Stobart she told them she was carrying “ice” down her top, in her wallet and up her skirt.

Police found 11 bags containing 3.08g of methamphetamine on her, including in her bra.

Officers checked the contents of a mobile phone and found a myriad of coded drug convos showing Stobarts participation in supplying and being supplied ice, the documents state.

“There were a number of messages indicating Stobart denying a persons ‘tick’ due to being owed excessive amounts of money from drug customers,” police documents state.

Stobart told police her actions were stupid and she did not have a seatbelt on when the car crashed during the pursuit.

She did not encourage Willson in any way during the chase, the court heard.

Magistrate Karen Stafford told the court Willson almost ran over Stobart when he picked her up.

“The way he was going to drive should have been apparent by how the co-accused pulled up,” she said.

The court heard Stobart committed the offence six months into a parole period.

Mrs Stafford said Stobart needed to stop reoffending and recognise the harm drugs could do when supplied to the community.

“It ruins lives – it ruined yours,” she said.

Defence lawyer Rennie Anderson said Stobart knew Willson through the drug scene.

He said his client had been in custody since February 7.

“She is a victim to the chain of misery … ,” he said.

“He took the children away from Stobart and would taunt her by sending photographs of the children at various locations in the countryside.

“She wants to change her life.”

Mrs Stafford said Stobart was a “dealer-user” and accepted she jumped into the car as she was heavily affected by drugs.

Stobart was sentenced to an 18-month intensive community corrections order and ordered to undergo drug and alcohol rehabilitation.
