RUGBY LEAGUE: The Roosters have bid farewell to Michael Gordon with the veteran fullback cleared to officially join the Gold Coast Titans.

The Roosters have signed off on the release of the 34-year-old from the final year of his deal.

Gordon will join the Titans on a two-year deal and will don the No.1 jersey previously worn by Jarryd Hayne.

"Michael is a player that everyone loves playing with and is the ultimate professional in every aspect of the game,” Titans coach Garth Brennan said.

"We have a number of young players in the squad and Michael will help them with their development as well as be a leader amongst the group.

" His experience as well as his ability as a goal kicker will make him a valuable commodity here at the Titans.”

While Hayne's premature departure from the glitter strip for a return to Parramatta freed up ample space on the Titans' salary cap, they landed Gordon's signature at a steal.

With Gordon keen to relocate to be closer to his family, his Gold Coast contract is worth close to the $250,000 he was poised to earn at the Roosters next season.
