A North Coast man accused of murdering his partner and leaving her beaten body in a Ballina laneway will remain behind bars on remand for now.
Robert Karl Huber, 66, has been charged with domestic violence-related murder of Lindy ‘Kimmy’ Lucena, 64, and contravening an apprehended domestic violence order.
No pleas have been entered.
Ms Lucena’s body was located by Ballina police on Holden Lane, near Cherry St, early on January 4.
Police allege Huber entered Ballina Police Station about 12.30am, asked to speak to officers and they then found Ms Lucena’s body.
She was found half naked, bloodied, with heavy bruising visible on her face, hands and arms and a “significant head injury”.
Police allege Ms Lucena was murdered between 7pm and 12am.
The couple were flood victims and were living in Reflections Caravan Park at the time of the alleged murder.
Huber worked as Lucena’s carer and was also a cleaner at Ballina’s Ramada Hotel.
His case was raised in Ballina Local Court on Thursday.
The court was still waiting on a forensic psychology report.
Huber did not apply for bail and it was refused.
The case was adjourned to October 5.
