Police have called on the public for information as they probe the brutal bashing of a young North Coast man near a skate park in a coastal tourist town.
A 22-year-old man was walking near the skate park popular with children and youths about 4am on January 1.
He was jumped by a group and suffered injuries to his head and torso.
The man was taken to Lismore Base Hospital for treatment.
In a fresh bid to find those responsible, Richmond Police District has released images from CCTV footage, depicting people they would like to speak to.
Anyone with information about the attack or the people pictured has been urged to come forward.
Police state “at least one or more” of the culprits “engaged with or remained with the victim after the assault and assisted him under CCTV near the Evans Head Surf Club”.
Jade Layton was a part of a clean-up crew working around the club on New Year’s Day.
She said she spotted “a lot of smashed glass”, vodka bottles, as well as a bank card and used fireworks around where the attack occurred – but police have not linked the mess to the incident at this stage.
