A woman has landed in a Ballina court after she chomped down on her partner during an argument at a Woolworths supermarket.

Nyrradi Vickery, of Goonellabah, was found guilty at Ballina Local Court on Thursday of assault causing actual bodily harm.

The 28-year-old woman and her 34-year-old partner began to argue outside the Ballina Woolworths on River St and a physical fight broke out about 1pm on August 12.

The victim was pushing the pram with their two children through Woolworths when Vickery said to her partner “give me my kids”, court documents state.

“What do you mean? They are our kids,” her partner replied.

Vickery then grabbed hold of the pram and savagely bit down on the victim’s forearm he was pushing the pram with, cutting him open, police documents state.

The man took the two children outside Woolworths while Vickery remained inside the store.

Police were called and placed Vickery under arrest.

The court heard Vickery was a full-time carer of the children and living in temporary accommodation in Ballina after being displaced by the recent floods.

Magistrate Karen Stafford ordered an apprehended violence order (AVO) and for Vickery to take part in a mental health treatment plan under the care of a psychologist.
