I HAVE always been a fan of motorsport.

From a young age I used to sit with my dad and brother and watch Peter Brock tear up Bathurst. We were huge Holden fans and every weekend we would head to Mothar Mountain Speedway in Gympie to get showered in dust and mud. They are great memories and ones a lot of young kids may not have the chance to have if Carina Speedway isn't saved. It's been a tough first year back for the club. Rain has cruelled any chance they had of making money this season. Now promoter Peter Basmadjian is asking for help to get the club's engine going again. They need $75,000 to pay off bills left over after the first season of racing. It seems like a lot, but if we all band together it will help save and important part of the fabric of the region. So far just under $5000 has been raised with 32 people contributing to the GoFundMe page already. If you are into motorsport and can spare some money head to gofundme.com/ carinaspeedway.  It may help save a valuable sport and club from collapse.
