Man, 62, dies on scene, 18-year-old in hospital after head-on crash at Ballina in northern NSW

A 62-year-old man is dead and a younger man, 18, has been left badly injured after a two-car crash in northern NSW. Here’s what we know.

A 62-year-old man is dead and an 18-year-old has been left seriously injured after a horror two-car crash in northern NSW.

Emergency services were called to Tamarind Dr at Ballina after the head-on collision between a Honda Accord sedan and a Hyundai i30 hatchback about 5.45pm on Wednesday.

Police state the older man was extracted from the wrecked hatchback and treated by paramedics, however, he could not be revived and died at the scene.

The young man driving the Honda was treated and taken to Lismore Base Hospital.

Police set up a crime scene and officers launched investigations into the circumstances of the crash.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
