After only 72 hours on the market, an iconic Lennox Head property is already gathering interest from possible local, national and international buyers.

The popular area known informally as Condon Hill or the ‘horses hill’ is a signature sight in Byron Bay Road as it has had horses and donkeys agisted on the hill property leading into Lennox.

For the first time in 57 years, the last of the properties owned by the Condon family at 8 Byron Bay Road, Lennox Head, is for sale.

The property features a two-storey five-bedroom home with some of the most exclusive views of the Lennox area, with an outlook over Seven Mile Beach from Lennox Point to Broken Head.

The property is only a 550m walk to the beach and the Lennox Head business precinct.

The home is located at the top of the ridge, but it is the hill behind it which makes the property so recognisable.

Elders Lennox Head licensee Nick Bordin said the 22-acre property was truly an iconic Northern Rivers location.

“It’s the first thing you see as you drive into Lennox,” he said.

“Having that green space with the hill and the horses is iconic. That’s one of the last remaining green spaces where you can see into the village from the road.”

Mr Bordin said he hoped the potential buyer would keep the property as it is now.

“They may want to build a new house or not where the current house sits, or keep it the way it is, that’s who I think and who I hope would buy it,” he said.

“We are getting inquiries from developers, from homeowners, investment groups, everyone is inquiring.

“Local, interstate, overseas, there is no particular demographic, a lot of people seem to have Lennox on the radar.

“Some people who already live here are also looking at it as an upgrade, which is nice to see.”

The property is expected to fetch between $14 and $15 million.

The Real Estate agent said the land has certain limitations.

“It’s a rural zoning and council have identified it as a scenic part of the coast that they would like to protect, so you soon find that developers who were looking to do something more with the land will fall away.

“That’s why I think it will be more likely a homeowner who wants a farm walking distance to the beach and shops who will end up being your eventual buyer.”

Mr Bordin said a small portion of the site, approximately 6100 sqm, was zoned as low density residential.

“That portion of the land is not visible from the road or the village, it’s over the back side of the hill,” he said.

“That was rezoned with the intention of keeping the hill the way it is now.”

Expressions of interest will be received until June 24.
