For the third time in three months the North Coast is set to see rain but forecasters have explained why these clouds could be met with a sigh of relief.
Bureau of Meteorology Engagement Officer Morgan Pumpa said while showers were on the way this long weekend, compare to previous deluges, rainfall was comparatively light.
She said the rain was due to a high-pressure system extending along the coast, with most of the showers to hit in the Coffs Harbour region.
“At the moment I do understand people are quite exhausted and still in the recovery phase. However with these showers continuing it is through the ridge and through the coast, not a trough or low pressure system,” she said.
For most of the North Coast this meant Friday would be the wettest day with showers to ease by Monday.

Still, the Coffs community should be on alert for the minor chance of flash flooding and Ms Pumpa recommended keeping up-to-date on flooding risks.
“We do see moderate rain (on Friday) and we might continue to see rain increase but this is not expected or likely. That said we just can’t rule it out,” she said.
“It’s been a wet year for the region and with that soils and surfaces are quite saturated.”
Coffs Harbour could see between 20-40mm on Friday, 10-20mm on Saturday and 8-15mm on Sunday.
For Lismore, these falls are expected to drop dramatically thankfully.
On Friday, Lismore could see 6-10mm, 3-8mm on Saturday and 2-6mm by Sunday.
The welcome news comes as Western NSW prepped for minor to moderate flooding on the Culgoa, Birrie, Bokhara and Narran Rivers on Wednesday.
