Australia’s new First Lady Jodie Haydon has thrived in her world stage debut, touring with Spanish royalty as Anthony Albanese joined allies in Europe for a critical security meeting.
The Prime Minister wrapped up his visit to Madrid for the NATO Summit with a one-on-one meeting with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau on Thursday before travelling to Paris, where he hopes to repair Australia’s relationship with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Mr Albanese’s partner Ms Haydon has joined him on the trip, and took part in a activities with the spouses of other world leaders, including Jill Biden, hosted by Spain’s Queen Letizia.
Appearing at ease in her new role, Ms Haydon shared a laugh with the Queen as they toured the gardens at the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso in Segovia.
They also visited a royal glass factory in Segovia.
“Over the last couple of days Jodie has participated (in the spouse program) and that has been very constructive,” Mr Albanese said.
