A MAN has been struck and killed by a train in Sydney’s south while reportedly tagging with a friend.
The Airport line was flung into chaos with commuters forced to endure heavy delays and limited bus services as police investigated the incident which occurred at Riverwood railway station on Belmore Rd just before 3pm.
The man is believed to have been on the tracks with another person doing graffiti when he stepped backwards and was hit by an express train, 2GB Radio reported.

Police established a crime scene and confirmed that initial inquiries suggested misadventure rather than self-harm.
Officers from the Police Transport Command have taken control of the investigation and are expected to interview the man’s shell-shocked associate at Hurstville Police Station.
“Police are attempting to determine why the man was in the rail corridor,” a police spokeswoman said.
City bound Macarthur train services were diverted via Lidcombe for some time but by 5pm these services had returned to normal — although buses continue to supplement services between Kingsgrove and Macarthur.
“NSW Police are in charge of the investigation and all inquiries should be directed to Police Media,” a Sydney Trains spokesman said.
“We advise customers to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, listen to announcements and check indicator boards and real time travel apps.”
A report will be prepared for the coroner and investigations are ongoing.
