THE cousin of a man who supplied the gun used to kill police accountant Curtis Cheng has allegedly been caught in the eastern suburbs with a loaded gun in his underpants.
Ahmad Alameddine, 28, was the passenger in a Chrysler sedan which allegedly cruised through a red light at the intersection of Ocean St and New South Head Rd at Edgecliff at 2.30pm on Wednesday.
Police pulled the car over and “developed reasonable suspicion to search” the driver, Dylan Kim Salmond, also 28, and Alameddine.

Alameddine “became aggressive and resisted officers” according to a police statement tendered in court.
“Police subdued him and during the search they allegedly located a loaded firearm in his underwear,” the statement said.
Officers then found 2200 tablets of the powerful anti-anxiety drug Alprazolam — often sold as Xanax — in the car.
Alameddine was charged with possess loaded firearm in public place, possess unregistered firearm — pistol, and possess prohibited drug.
Salmond was charged with supply prohibited drug between indictable and commercial quantity, and possess prohibited drug.
Alameddine’s cousin, Talal Alameddine, refused to stand for a Supreme Court judge as he was sentenced to 13 years and six months jail in May.
He supplied a revolver to Raban Alou which was later used by 15-year-old Farhad Jabar to shoot dead father-of-two Mr Cheng as he left work at Parramatta Police headquarters on October 2, 2015.
Talal Alameddine’s brother Rafat Alameddine pleaded guilty in March 28 to his part in a multimillion-dollar fraud racket involving the use of fake loan documents to buy luxury cars.
Ahmad Alameddine did not apply for bail when he appeared briefly, supported by his family, in Waverley Local Court today.
Salmond was also denied bail this afternoon.
