THE man who supplied the gun used to murder police accountant Curtis Cheng during a terrorist attack has refused to stand for Supreme Court judge as he was sentenced to at least 13 years and six months in jail.

Talal Alameddine, 25, pleaded guilty to supplying a revolver to Raban Alou, 20, which was later used by 15-year-old Farhad Jabar to shoot dead the father-of-two as he left work at Parramatta Police Headquarters on October 2, 2015.

Jabar was killed in an exchange of gunfire.

In the NSW Supreme Court at Parramatta Justice Peter Johnson sentenced the terrorist gun runner to a maximum 17 years and eight months after finding the former tradie was sympathetic towards Islamic State and was more than willing to provide Alou with the loaded gun.

“The offender was prepared to supply the revolver where he had strong inkling, at the very least, that the loaded pistol was to be used very shortly after for a violent attack in Sydney,” Justice Johnson told the court.

“Rather the offender supplied a loaded revolver which was capable of being used immediately and was in fact used an hour later.

“He had a good idea that the firearm was to be used shortly thereafter the supply for a terrorist attack in Sydney for terrorist purposes.”

Justice Johnson condemned Alameddine’s refusal to stand to receive his sentence saying it confirmed concerns he held extremist Islamic beliefs.

This prompted an outburst from a support in the public gallery who stormed out of the court saying: “It is not f**king fair, that’s why.”

In the hours before the terrorist attack Alameddine met with Alou at three different locations throughout western Sydney in order to supply him with a loaded .38 calibre Smith & Wesson special British Service Revolver, once used by the NSW Police Force.

Some time between 1.19pm and 2.55pm on October 2 Alameddine handed over the gun to Alou who then met with the radicalised teenager Jabar inside the women’s only prayer rooms at the Parramatta Mosque.

Talal waved and smiled to family and friends in the public gallery as he was brought into the dock prior to Justice Johnson handing down his judge̶ment.
