Alameddine family members charged over Westfield brawl

Three members of the notorious Alameddine family have been charged over a brawl in a western Sydney shopping centre. A fight allegedly erupted outside Myer, where punches and kicks were thrown.

Three members of the notorious Alameddine family have been charged over a brawl in a western Sydney shopping centre.

Rafat, Richad and Hamdi Alameddine arrived at Parramatta Police Station this morning where they were arrested and each charged with affray over the alleged fracas on June 15.

Police allege the group was walking through Westfield Parramatta when they came across a group they knew about 3pm.

A fight allegedly erupted outside the Myer outlet, where punches and kicks were thrown, before the groups parted ways.

“Several men were punched and kicked … police from Parramatta Police Area Command attended, however, the groups had dispersed and left the area prior to their arrival,” a police statement said.

Strike Force Raptor took carriage of the investigation and raided three homes in Merrylands on Thursday before the men attended the police station this morning.

Rafat and Hamdi were released on bail, Richad was initially denied police bail but a magistrate subsequently granted it upon his appearance in court.

The men are all relatives of Talal Alameddine, jailed for 17 years for supplying the gun used to kill police accountant Curtis Chang.

There is no suggestion Rafat, Richad or Hamdi had any knowledge of or involvement in matters involving Talal Alameddine.
