An 11-year-old girl has been flown to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition after suffering serious injuries when she fell from a moving vehicle in Berowra today.

An 11-year-old girl has been flown to hospital in a critical condition after falling from a moving vehicle in Berowra today.

Emergency services were called to Boundary Street at about 10am, with a CareFlight chopper landing at nearby Berowra Oval.

The girl fell from a Toyota Tarago four-door minivan, according to police inspector Jane Hansford.

“It’s that time of the year when it pays to remind everyone on the roads to take care,” Inspector Hansford said.

CareFlight medics worked on the 11-year-old girl for close to an hour before she was transported by road ambulance to the helicopter and flown to The Children’s Hospital at Westmead in a critical condition.

“We assisted the ambulance and CareFlight helicopter crew by putting up tarps to give the poor girl some privacy when they treated her,” Bewowra fire station officer Wayne Stevens said.

The girl hit her head hard on the road shortly before 10am, according to a NSW Ambulance spokesman.

The crash investigation unit has been on scene all day examining the maroon people mover and interviewing neighbours.
