A spearfisherman who drowned after being pulled from the water at Bondi Beach has been identified.
Louis Touma, 29, was diving with six mates when he was dragged unconscious from the water at the north end of the beach at about 4pm on Thursday.
His friends attempted CPR and paramedics rushed him to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead.
His friends and family said it was a “heartbreaking loss”, the Daily Telegraph reported.
Mr Touma's friends were treated for shock following the harrowing incident.
“NSW Ambulance paramedics were called in to treat a man who had been spear fishing with friends,” a spokesman said.
“He was found unconscious and pulled from the water before his friends attempted CPR on the rocks.
