Mum Mackenzie Anderson was sent chilling threats before she was allegedly stabbed to death

A young mum was sent chilling threats in the days before she was allegedly stabbed to death.

Mackenzie Anderson, 21, died on the front lawn of her home in Newcastle last Friday night and her ex-boyfriend Tyrone Thompson, 22, has been charged with her murder.

Now texts shown to Daily Mail Australia appear to suggest she was threatened by another man unrelated to Thompson in the days before her death.

A friend of Miss Anderson’s told the publication that she was “scared and very stressed” last week.

The young mother sent a text message saying the man sending the threats was “looking for my son and me”.

“He’s got a gun, I’ve seen it,” she added.

Police allege that Thompson stabbed Miss Anderson to death last Friday night.

He was arrested and taken to hospital with cuts to his hands.

Thompson was on Sunday charged with murder, breaching an AVO and aggravatedly entering a dwelling with intent.

He appeared at Newcastle Local Court via videolink on Monday but did not enter a plea. He did not apply for bail, which was formally refused.

Friends paid tribute to the young mum, who has left behind her toddler son.

Her friend Alice McEvoy called Miss Anderson her “best friend and sister”.

“I am completely heart broken,” she wrote. “I will forever protect my godson & fight for justice for you Kenz. I love you. This isn’t goodbye only see you later.”
