LEADING Gold Coast defence lawyer Campbell MacCallum has decked out his office in “old-school gangsta” chic to make his clients feel “more comfortable”.

Mr MacCallum, known for his snappy suits and love of pink, said most legal offices were “sterile” but his new “pimped out” workspace was now anything but.

He has splashed the walls in black paint, added a hot pink velvet couch and dressed it with lavish designer furnishings like a gold Rolex clock, loud Versace rug and pillows.

“It used to be just a white box with a brown desk and a little office chair,” Mr MacCallum said.

The small windowless room includes a wardrobe — for his snazzy suits — and several bottles of expensive liquor “for the clients”.

His favourite item is a painting of Al Pacino from 1980s film Scarface.

“I like all the old-school gangsta stuff,” he said. “A lot of my clients can probably relate to the characters (in Scarface).

“I’m often typing so it gives them something to look at. It’s more about making (the clients) them feel a little bit more comfortable.”

He didn’t say how much the revamp cost but admitted most items were gifted from clients.

“People come in and say ‘I’d like to put this in your office’. The (Versace) cushions and rug were given to me by someone who just said this would look really good.”

During his 22 years as a defence lawyer, Mr MacCallum has represented professional sport stars, underworld figures, motorcycle gang members, politicians, private schools and porn actors.

“I love representing all walks of life,” he said. “I love the rich and the famous, the poor and the downtrodden and everything in between.”
