A SCHOOL known for its loving teachers, new-age facilities and free-range chickens has been crowned the best on the Gold Coast.
Emmanuel College is the category winner of the Best of the Gold Coast school series – a Bulletin competition that has been celebrating more than 10 Coast schools with over 1000 students.
Acting principal Gordon Johnstone said he was proud the school had been recognised as one of the best in the region.
“Emmanuel is 35 years old and we have established ourselves as a coeducational, multi-denominational school that is valued by the Gold Coast community for our strong commitment to achieving educational excellence within a framework of thoughtful, intelligent and vibrant Christian faith,” he said.

“We have thrived during COVID-19 and we are super proud of our 2020 graduates.”
When the Bulletin asked Year 3 student Archie Mechan, 9, why he loved Emmanuel, he couldn’t stop smiling.
“It’s the best because the teachers are really nice, we have a really good tuckshop and chickens, and the icy cup ladies are really nice,” he said.
Year 10 student Jasmyn Smith, 16, agreed that Emmanuel was the best on the Gold Coast.
“The teachers are amazing, we have beautiful facilities and we are so lucky to have amazing opportunities to thrive in academically, in sport and performing arts.”
Emmanuel College beat strong competition from Saint Stephen’s College, which came a close second.
Other finalists included Somerset College, A.B. Paterson College and Hillcrest Christian College.
