A mass shooter serving multiple life sentences will have to wait until the new year for a hearing over an alleged prison assault.

Four days after being sentenced to three life sentences with no possibility of parole, Benjamin Glenn Hoffmann was due back before the Territory courts on Monday.

Hoffmann, 48, was charged with aggravated assault following an alleged prison incident in November 2021.

The court previously heard allegations the mass murderer threw hot water at another person during a “minor” prison assault.

The actual temperature of the water has been hotly contested in prior court hearings.

At the time, Hoffmann was in Holtze prison for murdering Hassan Baydoun, Michael Sisois, Rob Courtney and the manslaughter of Nigel Hellings during his shotgun rampage through Darwin in 2019.

Chief Judge Elizabeth Morris had expected Hoffmann to be representing himself via a prison link, however the 48-year-old was approved for Legal Aid funding.

During his lengthy murder-manslaughter trial, Hoffmann spectacularly fired two different legal teams.

Hoffmann was also not able to appear via a prison link, as he was being kept in the medical wing.

His case was adjourned for a Darwin Local Court hearing on January 18, 2023.
