A man has been rushed to Geelong hospital in a critical condition after he was found unresponsive in a car that was allegedly involved in a hit-and-run.

Police allege they also found drugs in the vehicle.

They are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Great Ocean and Old Coach roads just before 2pm on Sunday.

A woman in her 60s was driving a Tesla when it collided with a Mazda, which investigators allege was driving erratically prior to the crash.

The 22-year-old man driving the Mazda allegedly fled the scene but came to a stop at Wendt Court, two streets away from the crash.

He was found by emergency crews unresponsive and was transported to Geelong hospital in a critical condition.

“Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and located what is alleged to be drugs of dependence,” police said.

The woman in her 60s was trapped briefly in her car, but was quickly freed by CFA firefighters and transported to Geelong Hospital in a stable condition.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000
