A reported off-field brawl at a junior football game in Barwon Heads is being investigated by AFL Barwon.

Police were called to Howard Harmer Oval on Saturday morning just before midday – where the Seagulls were taking on Lara in an under-16 division two fixture – following an alleged altercation between supporters.

In a statement, AFL Barwon said it was aware of a video circulating of an off-field incident during the game.

“This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated at any level of our competitions,” it said on Sunday.

“AFL Barwon is following due process to address the matter appropriately and will not be making any further comment until that process has been completed.”

Victoria Police confirmed their attendance about 11.45am following reports of a brawl.

However, it said “nobody came forward as a victim or to make a formal report to police” and no arrests were made.

In a statement, Lara president Chris Spence said the club was aware of a video of an off-field incident.

“We have made preliminary contact with AFL Barwon and understand an investigation is imminent,” he said.

“We will allow the investigation to proceed and will not provide further public comment.

“We reiterate and support AFL Barwon’s stance on this behaviour being completely unacceptable and not to be tolerated.”
