A man has died in a single vehicle crash in Katherine, marking the third death on Northern Territory roads in only 24 hours.

At about 3.40pm Saturday, police received reports of a single vehicle crash on the Buntine Highway, about 45 kilometres south of the Victoria Highway intersections.

The man, 46, was the sole occupant and was pronounced dead at the scene.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

The number of lives lost on Territory roads now stands at 19.

It comes after a man, 47, and a teenage girl, 14, were killed in a single vehicle crash on a remote NT road early Saturday.
