POLICe are still searching for a man after their search of a Liverpool home proved fruitless.
Heavily armed police have entered the home after it is believed a man barricaded himself inside following a police chase.
With high powered weapons and police dogs, officers surrounded the property in Roland Street Liverpool where the man was refusing to leave.
A police spokesperson said the incident began at about 12.40pm when police attempted to stop a vehicle in Lehmann Street Liverpool.
The driver failed to stop and a pursuit began.
It ended a short time later when the man stopped and fled to the townhouse.
Police negotiators attempted to contact the man over a megaphone from the front of the home.
Neighbours were shocked when they saw tactical officers flood the streets, entering backyards and surrounding the house, Nine News reports.
