An extensive search is underway in the state’s far west for a grandmother of 13 who disappeared without a trace late last month.

Marilyn Grubb, 65, has not been seen her heard from since December 30 when she left her home about 50km outside of Broken Hill. Police believe the doting grandmother headed to another property on Morgan Lane, Broken Hill, before driving off in her 2005 Holden Adventra station wagon with South Australian licence plates S048BON.

There have been no sightings of Ms Grubb since Sunday and a trace on her mobile phone revealed no activity since the day she disappeared.

Desperate family members fear the cleaner and cook, who works at Eureka Station outside Broken Hill, may have been driving to Dubbo. They fear she may have come off the road at some point on the 760km journey.

“The likelihood of her going to Dubbo is quite high as I live there so she has travelled that road many times before,” distraught daughter Annemarie Grubb told The Daily Telegraph. “But she also has a daughter in Perth and another son in Sydney and has family who she is very close to in Adelaide.”

So many possibilities have provided police with a huge area to search.

Detective Inspector Michael Fuller said both planes and helicopters, including one hired by the family, have been scouring the surrounding areas. State Emergency Service volunteers and community members have also been out looking for Ms Grubb since the alarm was raised.

Ms Grubb said local chopper pilot Jamie Henderson of Stock and Station Aviation had been vital in providing “free range” use of his helicopter during the search.

Det Insp Fuller said there was no indication of foul play being involved but all avenues were being examined. He also wanted to reassure Ms Grubb that if she was just taking a time out, she would not be in any trouble with law enforcement.

Ms Grubb has worked on a number of cattle stations in the area of the past decade and was a devoted grandmother who put her family before all else — especially her 13 grandchildren, her daughter said.

“Mum is a lovely lady, she is very, very family-orientated,” she said. “Family was her everything and she loved her grandkids more than life.”

A family friend set up a gofundme page to help fund the search and pay for air support to continue the search for Ms Grubb.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dashcam footage of the area is urged to contact police immediately.
