Jill Lange-Mohr has a sense of pride when looking back on her time as head of college at Geelong Lutheran College.

Ms Lange-Mohr joined GLC in 2018, and guided the school to an impressive 40 per cent growth over five years.

She was previously the founding principal of Saint Peters Lutheran College in Queensland.

This year, the 64-year-old has called time on her illustrious career, entering retirement.

Ms Lange-Mohr said she was excited for what was ahead, but that she was going to miss the “magnificent” community across the school’s Newtown and Armstrong Creek campuses.

“I’m going to really miss them so much,” she said.

“When we say to most families ‘how did you hear about us?’, they say ‘we have friends who told us this is where we need to go’.

“That’s always the best.”

Ms Lange-Mohr said she had mixed emotions about leaving.

She said since announcing her retirement, a lot of past and present students had come forward and shared how she impacted them.

She said a year 2 class drew portraits of her, and one student did such an outstanding job that the teacher framed it.

Ms Lange-Mohr said she would cherish the artwork, and all her memories from GLC.

She said she was looking forward to travelling next year with her husband Mike.

However Ms Lange-Mohr, who moved to Geelong for the job, said she would continue to live in the area.

“We have fallen in love with Geelong,” she said.

“We love the community … and the church community.

“We’ve been so welcomed and we feel so comfortable.”

Ms Lange-Mohr will be succeeded in the role by current principal Sue Ellis, in a retitled position of executive principal.
