The developer behind a multimillion-dollar village in Grovedale set to feature a number of popular restaurant chains has revealed the centre is set to open over summer.

Cajak Ave Grovedale Pty Ltd, the developer behind the project, has spent more than $20m on construction works.

The development will include a KFC, Starbucks, Guzman Y Gomez, childcare centre, gym and 7/11 service station.

Jaryd Misios, director of the company, said the majority of the centre would be open by February next year.

The Grovedale Village project on the corner of Colac Rd and Rossack Drive, next to the Waurn Ponds police station, is currently in the later stages of construction.

A planning permit for the development was approved by the Geelong council in March.

“It’s all under construction at the moment,” Mr Misios said.

“Our builder Becon are doing all the work on site and we are looking at hopefully having all the roads and access completed before Christmas and then realistically start to see tenancies open up from early in the new year.

“I think realistically we’ll see the majority of the centre open up in February.”

Mr Misios said he earmarked the site for Grovedale because of its exposure to Colac Rd, while being near Waurn Ponds.

“What we notice is a really strong tenant demand to be in the area and what the tenants really want here is large exposure to main roads with a lot of traffic and being among all the other commercial (property) that Waurn Ponds has,” he said.

“We’ve had pretty positive response from everyone, they are just new offerings to the area which everyone is excited about.

“There is an incredible demand for childcare in the area as well.”

Mr Misios said the project has generated more than 200 construction jobs and is likely to generate more than 140 jobs on an ongoing basis.
