A teenager was assaulted by his sister’s partner while trying to prevent a violent attack.

Brandon Juresko slapped his girlfriend outside her Belmont home before turning his aggression on her 17-year-old brother by punching him in the face, putting him in a headlock and throwing him against a car.

The 27-year-old was warned by a magistrate on Tuesday that he could end up behind bars if he stepped out of line again.

Juresko pleaded guilty to intentionally damaging property, unlawful assault, recklessly causing injury, possessing a drug of dependence and driving unlicensed at the Geelong Magistrates Court.

In November 2020, after an argument, Juresko jumped out of a car being driven by his girlfriend’s mother but left his phone inside.

He went to their home to retrieve the phone but became angry when he could not immediately get it back.

The girlfriend was left with red marks after the assault and her younger brother reported bleeding on his lips and burns on his arm.

In October 2021, following another argument, Juresko followed her car on a dirt bike at a fast rate of speed and without a helmet.

Juresko slid through an intersection, lost control of the bike and was thrown onto the roadway where he hit his head.

Police attended and found the bike was unroadworthy and discovered Juresko had cannabis in his system.

On another occasion, Juresko and his girlfriend were arguing in her car when she pulled over and asked him to get out.

Juresko then smashed one of the back windows with his hands, causing glass to shatter on two dogs inside.

In April this year, Juresko tried to give his girlfriend a puppy to convince her not to end their relationship.

When she said she did not want the puppy and left the house, Juresko followed her on foot for about two kilometres.

The girlfriend tried to call police but Juresko took her phone, causing her to call out to a passer-by for help.

In September 2020, Juresko was also caught driving with a suspended license.

Magistrate John Bentley said Juresko’s criminal history was “horrendous” and included a number of court order breaches.

“You failed every community corrections order you’ve ever had. You can’t fail this one. You will go to jail, I’ll tell you that straight,” he said.

Juresko was placed on a community corrections order and has lost his license for two years.
