EMERGENCY services responded to a man suffering a medical episode while hiking with friends south of Cairns, late Friday afternoon.
Paramedics, police, fire and emergency services and the Rescue510 helicopter were called to Walsh’s Pyramid about 5.30pm, Friday, to attend to a 25-year-old Gordonvale man, who a Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman confirmed was assessed in critical condition.
A Queensland Police spokeswoman confirmed the 25-year-old died due to the medical episode.
She said crews left the scene at 7.40am Saturday.
On Friday a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services representative confirmed that they had six vehicles on scene, but said they were providing assistance and the incident was being managed by the Queensland Ambulance Service.
