Winners of the keg lifting competitions, Ben Herbert and Renee Donald were proud to be taking home the champion title after an event-filled weekend.

“I’ve been training for this now for a good solid eight months,” Mr Herbert said.

“Feeling a little bit dusty after Gordonvale races but I kept my mentality going, and I pulled through, it’s been good.”

“I wanted to make my husband proud, and goal achieved,” Ms Donald said.

Hemingways’ head of hospitality, Roman Haslinger said Oktoberfest was all about the atmosphere and people who love to “down a beer”.

“It’s really all about a special style beer and a festival that’s meant to be for mixing and mingling,” he said.
