CAIRNS Beer Festival makes a full post-Covid comeback at Hemingway’s Brewery on Saturday with a lively line-up of local flavours.

Hemingway’s Brewery Cairns manager Roman Haslinger said after having to cancel the festival in 2020 and work with restrictions in 2021, the team is preparing to come back strong.

“This is our time to showcase what the Far North breweries can do, we’re expecting this year to go off and see a lot of locals come through for a good time,” he said.

“It’s a collaborative and fun event that brings in the other breweries because it’s our mindset that together, we are FNQ, and the craft brew industry here is still very young.

“We always considered ourselves not as competition but as quality brewers who need to change local minds about what good beer is.”

Macalister’s Brewing, Coral Sea Brewing, Barrier Reef Brewing, Sauce Brewing Co and Hemingway’s Brewerywill all return for this year’s festival, each company bringing a brand-new beer titled the Festival Brew.

“Every brewery brings one new beer to the festival to show our creativity and have people try something new, it’s one of my rules to be there,” Mr Haslinger said.

“These are usually limited edition but last year, Hemingway’s festival brew was such a winner that it is now one of our standards behind the bar, a crowd-pleasing favourite.”

The Cairns Beer Festival kicks off at noon with free entry.
