Discovery of a body in a stairwell in Melbourne sparks homicide investigation
A man is under police guard as Homicide Squad detectives investigate the death of a man whose body was discovered in an apartment block stairwell.

The body of a man has been discovered in a stairwell in an apartment block in Melbourne’s East.
Emergency services were called to the residence on Young St in Box Hill about 7.45pm on Saturday following reports of an assault in the complex’s foyer.
Upon arrival, police found two victims of an alleged assault, with one sustaining a minor facial injury.
After speaking with witnesses, police were made aware a third person had also been assaulted and they commenced a search of the building.
During the search, police found a man dead in a stairwell.
He is yet to be formally identified.
A 42-year-old Box Hill man, who is believed to be known to the dead man, was arrested at the scene.
He remains in hospital under police guard and is assisting police with inquiries.
Homicide squad detectives have attended the scene and investigations into the death remain ongoing.
