The work of tech-savvy teachers has been lauded after a western Sydney school reached new heights with its 2022 NAPLAN results.

The Quakers Hill Public School ranked in the top 20 primary schools in the city’s west, followed by Riverbank Public School and Norwest Christian College which both ranked in the top 50.

Principal Bert Lo Campo said the result wasn’t surprising after a record-breaking few years for the public school, with the tech-savvy campus embracing online testing for the first time in 2022.

“We‘ve always worked really hard to provide our kids with the best opportunities,” he said.

“Our results are a testament to the quality teachers that we have at this school, and to the differentiated professional learning that we provide our staff to run targeted programs.

“We also work closely with our community to ascertain what their needs are – what they want for their kids – and then we deliver that based on our NSW curriculum.”

Mr Campo said the school also focused on not leaving any one child behind in achieving academic results, with students achieving high-band testing scores across the board.

Among the focus of teaching staff were a number of coding and technology-focused programs, Mr Campo said, with new initiatives being launched all of the time.

The Australian Islamic College also ranked within the top 100 hundred schools in western Sydney, which principal Dr Imam Ali said was a testament to a flexible learning model.

“Our younger teachers have brought ideas,” he said. “Instead of giving a test, they will just go orally in the class.

“Then, they identify some errors that exist in the class and do remedial work straight away, instead of a test.”
