Most improved NAPLAN schools revealed in last 5 years
The biggest NAPLAN improvers for schools in the Mid-North Coast region have been revealed along with the schools which have gone backwards. See where your school ranked.

North East Public School of Distance Education in Port Macquarie recorded the biggest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results increasing by 15.2 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.
Willawarrin Public School at Willawarrin was the second best with an increase of 10.77 per cent followed by Kempsey South Public School at Kempsey with an increase of 8.75 per cent.
Meanwhile, Kempsey High School in Kempsey recorded the biggest improvement for a secondary school with average year 9 NAPLAN results increasing by 1.31 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.
Nambucca Valley Christian Community School at Nambucca Heads was the second best with a 1.1 per cent increase followed by St Columba Anglican School at Port Macquarie with a change of -0.07 per cent.
Acting principal Mike Reinhardt says the NAPLAN results are a valuable tool.
“We look at the data a fair bit and it shows us where we need to work harder.”
Mr Reinhardt is proud of the upward trend in results and says “nobody gets lost in the crowd here”.
“For us, we are not a selective school, so a big part of our philosophy is that everyone who comes to our school, whether they are at the bottom or the top, we focus on the individual student and where they need to get to.”
The analysis compared the five year change in NAPLAN results from 2017 and 2021 and revealed the schools which have improved their Year 5 and Year 9 student scores the most.
It was calculated by each school‘s combined results for each NAPLAN subject in 2017 and compared to the same results in 2021.
Meanwhile, Stuarts Point Public School in Stuarts Point recorded the lowest improvement for a primary school with the average Year 5 NAPLAN results returning a result of -5.81 per cent over the past five years of NAPLAN.
While, Macksville High School in Macksville recorded the lowest improvement for a secondary school returning a result of -6.28 per cent over the past five years.
