What else are you meant to do with a giant wad of cash from a Lotto win other than fan it out and wave it around?

That is exactly what one Sydney woman did to celebrate winning a slice of Thursday night’s division two Powerball prize.

She was one of many hopeful ticket holders to visit Rosebery North Newsagency in Sydney’s southern suburbs on Friday morning – but unlike the others, she had lady luck on her side.

Lotto winner shows off huge cash prize

In a package for Channel 7’s Sunrise she could be seen shuffling through a wad of cash while telling the crew to “hang on”.

“Let me do this properly,” she said as she fanned out the prize money.

She then waved the cash in the air, saying: “Look at that! Winning, winning, winning, winning!”

It’s understood she won about $800 as part of a syndicate with 60 other people that shared $50,000 in prize money.

It’s a fair few dollars short of what just two tickets have to split for winning the eye-watering Powerball $100 million division one prize – with one of them bought by a 10-person syndicate at the Rosebery North Newsagency.

One member of the syndicate, who was watching the footy when lottery officials called him to tell him about the win, was blindsided.

“Holy s***. Holy s***. Are you serious? I’ve won $5 million?” he said, according to the Lott. “I’m in shock. You’ve changed my life.”

Another member of the syndicate said it was “unbelievable” and the win would make retirement “much easier”.

The other ticket was sold to a person in Victoria. However, the Lott has not been able to get in contact with them, because they did not leave complete contact details when purchasing the entry online.

The Lott spokeswoman Anna Hobdell said they likely had no clue they had just become a multi-millionaire.

“Imagine going to bed tonight not knowing you’ve just won $50 million? That’s the reality for one Victorian player after scoring a slice of the division one prize in tonight’s Powerball draw!” she said.

“That is why we are encouraging everyone in Victoria to check their entries because they may be the multi-millionaire we are searching for!”

The winning numbers are: 13, 7, 18, 1, 23, 25, 33

The Powerball number is: 7

The massive $100m Powerball prize comes after five consecutive weeks where no single division one winner was drawn.

It is the equal-biggest jackpot by any Australian lottery game this year, and comes six weeks after one lucky Aussie – a Bankstown dad – pocketed the biggest prize in the country.
